Global Health Day 2024

Advancing Equity in Global Health

Author
VP Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD

The Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility is bringing back its annual Global Health Day, an event that celebrates the global health work of University of Minnesota students and faculty.

As we approach Global Health Day, we are filled with a profound sense of purpose and commitment to advancing health equity and wellbeing worldwide. This annual event serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to address the most pressing health challenges facing communities across the globe with both cultural humility and empathy.

Through interdisciplinary approaches and cross-cultural understanding, we can create meaningful change and improve health outcomes for populations in our communities and far away.

I invite you to attend the Global Health Day event on April 18. This year’s theme will focus on sharing perspectives and solutions to advance equity in global health. The event will feature a student poster showcase, which gives students the chance to display their work in global health, and a panel discussion on the basic considerations of equity in global health that will provide strategies for students, researchers and physicians for how to evaluate whether they’re being socially responsible global health practitioners.
